As the autumn came, you could have expected some storms but this one blew everyone away - cropped sweaters came in like wrecking balls (sorry, couldn't resist of saying that!:D) and they are here to stay! There aren't probably a girl who hasn't seen one/worn one/bought one because they are literally everywhere - in every single clothing store, in every fashionista's closet .. on every runway. But has anyone thought what's really up with them?
Let's get started with the basics. A sweater - something we all know and love. Our companion in winter, best friend to get us through those cold nights. Something our grandma's love and give us every Christmas. Something that really wasn't supposed to be trendy or fashionable because you know .. it's a sweater. It's your geeky friend that is warm and fluffy but it's not a Chanel jacket.
But now cropped sweaters have made it turn! Though in the 80s, cropped tops were somewhat sexy and trashy, in the last couple of years it has made a turn to "modest fashion" and is no longer something overly sexy. This is were the sweaters came in! Since the cropped style turned modest and wearable for everyone, sweaters jumped right in and made the cropped style even more subtle - sweater was a geeky, loveable item and turning into a slightly sexier version, no one could even be mad because hey - it's still our good old sweater, just in a .. smaller version. And there you go - crops were here to stay.
What is confusing though is the purpose of it. Sweaters were supposed to cover you and keep you warm. Now they barely cover your boobs and belly! So it's not for keeping warmth anymore, noup. But then what is it for? For beauty? It's still a sweater. It just looks like it belongs to your 10-year-old sister or someone has accidentally shrunk your beloved sweater in wash ...
In fact, when to think about it, it really seems that someone just realized you don't have to throw away a sweater that has shrunk in wash .. you can still wear it proudly! And you will look super-stylish while doing it :) Voila - mystery solved!
Now actually I have to admit, even though in some point it looks like a silly trend, it has taken my heart as well .. yeap, I surrender and say - cropped sweaters do look good! But only if you know how to wear them right ;)
This is one of those trends that is absolutely available for everybody. You don't need a thick wallet - you probably have some sweater at your wardrobe already! It fits all styles, all ages and all body shapes - if you don't want to show off skin you can put a shirt under it. An affordable item that is suitable always .. this is what one trend is all about. Take my advice here and check out your wardrobe now - try that tiny sweater one that you haven't worn in ages and look how it rocks!
