Don't get lost, girl, a.k.a Why do we think we have to like everything in order to be liked?

A while now a thought has been knocking in my head, trying to find its way out and express it. The more and more I blog, the more I find such expansion of falseness and superficiality in fashion world. Even though it has been quite a trend  and people have always said fashion world is really superficial, it seems to me that now this mentality is getting popular amongst all the fashion bloggers and in the mind of young girls reading the blogs. It all starts from the fear of not being liked or maybe, just maybe, getting a negative feedback afterwards. The thing is, when we read blogs or see looks in Lookbook, we most likely want to get some feedback, something back for ourselves too. The mentality is that if we comment, people come to the blog, comment back and maybe even follow so our numbers grow. Over time however, the quality of comments has dropped as low as possible. People don't really share their opinion anymore, they just say at least something so maybe someone comes to their blog. Maybe they will be liked. Maybe it will get them famous.  The sad truth is, it isn't impressive for anyone with those one-word comments that are just plainly trivial.

This is pretty much what is going on in every single blog or fashion site where you are supposed to share your opinion. Saying "gorgeous" or "amazing" doesn't really give the blogger any feedback. Saying "I like how this dress fits with your body and the atmosphere" is a lot better an informative. But the problem isn't only in expressing things with one word, it's that people are scared to say what they REALLY truly feel about something!  You don't like the dress? Hey, you can never ever say that you don't like it because you HAVE to like it an you HAVE to say it's a good dress.  Scrap that girls.  We cannot find respect or true followers if the only thing we seek is being liked, even if we seek it from the places that we don't believe in. I have so much respect towards the people who come to me saying "hey, that angle isn't the most flattering, maybe you could try that .. that .. ". That's the only way how we, bloggers, can evolve and become better with each and every day.  Would you really like to have 1000 followers that have come to your blog only because they feel they HAVE to like your blog because you asked it? Or would you prefer 200 followers that truly love to read your thoughts, who are active in giving feedback and enjoy coming to your blog? Would you like to have 100 comments saying "cool", "pretty", "amazing" or would you like to have 20 comments telling you what is good about your post and what could you change about it? That's the choice we have to make and something that has been hitting my concious for a while. I admit, I've done that one-word-commenting myself but every time I've felt so .. useless, like I'm just a little piece of nothing, doing nothing useful. When I give an honest feedback, I feel great because I've spoken my mind.

Therefore, I encourage everybody to say what they truly feel about things! If you don't like a fashion trend, say it! If you don't like a post or pictures, say it! You don't have to follow every trend, every blogger and every single fashion item that is out there. Possibilites are endless and you can create your own wonderland of things you love, that you truly, deeply and madly adore.

Be bold, have the courage and be you! <3
